Data Series Key Words Flashcards
Define Data
Facts, graphs, statements, decisions, actions, descriptions which are supposedly true.
Facts or information, especially when examined and used to find out things or make decisions
Data is data. It is not opinion.
Define Sanity
The ability to recognise differences, similarities and identities
Define Different
Two or more facts or things that are totally unlike
Define Similar
Two or more facts or things that have something in common with one another
Define Identical
Two or more facts or things that have all their characteristics in common with one another
Define Logic
The subject of reasoning. It concerns obtaining answers
LOG’IC, n. [L. id; Gr. from reason, to speak.]
The art of thinking and reasoning justly.
Logic is the art of using reason well in our inquiries after truth, and the communication of it to others.
Logic may be defined, the science or history of the human mind, as it traces the progress of our knowledge from our first conceptions through their different combinations, and the numerous deductions that result from comparing them with one another.
Correct reasoning implies correct thinking and legitimate inferences from premises, which are principles assumed or admitted to be just. Logic then includes the art of thinking, as well as the art of reasoning.
The purpose of logic is to direct the intellectual powers in the investigation of truth, and in the communication of it to others.
Define Illogic
Irrationality; any one of the out points
Define Fact
Something that can be proven to exist by visible evidence
Define Opinion
Something which may or may not be based on any facts
Define Outpoint
A piece of information or an action that is presented as correct but is in fact illogical and not how it should be.
Outpoint is a combination of out ( incorrect or not in agreement with what is required) and point (a particular aspect or feature)
Define Data Analysis
The action of grading all the data on a subject or area for outpoints. By studying and isolating the principles that make a situation illogical, one can then see what is necessary to be logical.
Define Situation
A major departure from the ideal scene. This means a wide and significant or dangerous or potentially damaging CIRCUMSTANCE or STATE OF AFFAIRS which means that the IDEAL SCENE has been departed from and doesn’t fully exist in that area.
Define Ideal Scene
A statement or concept of how a scene(area or product) ought to be. The entire concept of the ideal scene for any activity is really a clean statement of its purpose.
Define Situation Analysis
the action of taking outpoints and pluspoints found in a data analysis and assigning each of them to its principal area. Doing this points up the locations of greatest error or disorganization and also the areas of greatest effectiveness. The area having the most outpoints is the target for correction. If the situation analysis is being done on a rising statistic area, the area with the most pluspoints would be looked into for the reason behind the up statistics
Define Pluspoint
A datum of truth when found to be true compared to the 14 points
Pluspoints show where logic exists and where things are going right or likely to.
Define Familiarity
Close acquaintance with or knowledge of something
Define Reasonable
Trying so hard to make illogical information or situations seem logical that one imagines or invents false reasons to explain them
Define Investigation
The careful discovery and sorting of facts
Define Why
That basic outness found which will lead to a recovery of stats
The real reason for a situation, the discovery of which makes it possible to handle the situation effectively and achieve significant improvement.
Define Wrong Why
The incorrectly identified outness which when applied does not lead to a recovery
Define A mere explanation
A “Why” given as THE Why that does not open the door to any recovery
Define Pull a string
To follow down a chain of outpoints
Define Evalute
To examine the evidence in order to determine the situation
Define Data Series
a series of policy letters written by L. Ron Hubbard which deal with logic, illogic, proper evaluation of data, and how to detect and handle the causes of good and bad situations within groups and organizations. The administrative technology described in these policy letters is applied to find what is logical by ferreting out what is illogical, using this to reveal the greatest outness which, when remedied, will resolve the scene.
Define Investigate
To search into; to inquire and examine into with care and accuracy
Define Irrational
the inability to get right answers from data
Define Rational
the ability to get right answers from data
Define Reasoning
the act or process of drawing conclusions from facts, evidence, etc.
Define Thinking
it consists merely of comparing a particular datum with the physical universe as it is known and observed
Define Evaluator
: a person who is trained in the use of the Data Series to evaluate situations.
