What is Data Ownership?
Process of identifying the person responsible for the CIA and privacy of the information assets.
Not the person who created the file
Who is the Data Owner?
Senior Executive role. Person responsible for the CIA and privacy of the information assets.
Who is the Data Controller?
The one who holds the ultimate accountability for any breaches of privacy and cannot delegate this to another party
Who is the Data Processor?
Group or individual hired by the Data Controller to help with tasks like collecting, storing or analyzing data
Who is the Data Steward
Someone who works for the Data Owner that focuses on the quality of the data and the associated metadata
Who is the Data Custodian?
The one responsible for handling the management of the systems that stores the data
Who is the Privacy Officer?
The one that oversees the private data like: PII, SPI, or PHI
What is Data Sovereignty?
Digital info is subject to the laws in the country its located in
