What are the data protection principles under the DPA 2018?
Information must be:
- LAWFUL: used fairly, lawfully, and transparently.
- SPECIFIED: used for specified, explicit purposes.
- RELEVANT: used in a way that is adequate relevant and limited to only what is necessary.
- ACCURATE: accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date.
- TIMELY: kept for no longer than is necessary.
- SECURE: handled in a way that ensures appropriate security, including protection against unlawful or unauthorised processing, access, loss, destruction or damage.
Who has to comply with the data protection principles in the DPA 2018?
- Everyone responsible for using personal data.
What does Section 18 of CRCA 2005 refer to?
