Data Courier Flashcards
What is Data Courier?
Hyperspace utility used to copy static records or custom category list entries from one environment to another. Data courier can send the same data to multiple environments.
What is the purpose of Data Courier?
- Allow initial data build in non-production settings
- Eliminate need to manually recreate static objects in multiple environments (copy-downs)
- Control what data is copied from one environment to another
- Maintain data integrity when moving data
What are the current TMC Data Courier Environments?
- ) REL
- ) TST
- ) PRD
- ) AMB Training
What is a CID (community ID)?
An internal unique Epic ID, that is automatically assigned to each record or category that is created.
How does Data Courier preserve referential integrity?
By using the CID to identify concepts, rather than local IDs that can vary from environment to environment.
How can you find a records CID and what is the item#?
To locate a records’ CID, use Record Viewer; it is Item 11. For Category Lists, type d ^EACATVW at the Cache/Lookitt prompt.
What can be sent by Data Courier?
The Data Courier can only transmit static data; static data is described as data that is entered during the system build (providers, procedures, medications, etc).
What are a few Data Courier challeges?
- Epic is in the process of enabling all static master files
- CIDs for records and categories must be in sync across environments
- DC cannot guarantee preservation of record ID (.1) or category numbers
- Cannot undo the effect of a transmission
How do you add an Individual record to the Data Courier Activity?
By entering the Master file INI in the Master File field, then the record ID (.1) in the Record field.
How can you Data Courier a range of records?
By typing “r.” and the first and last record, seprated by a colon (‘r.xxx:xxx’)
How can you add a subset of records to Data Courier?
By typing “s.” followed by the subset name.
How can you add records to Data Courier using the CID?
By typing “CID.” followed by the CID#.
What are two ways that you can pull in multiple records into Data Courier, other than using “r.” (range of records) or “s.” (subset) commands?
- ) Create a file of records and load the file
2. ) Load from a previously sent package.
What tools can you use within Data Courier, to validate your changes, prior to sending your records?
- ) Preview Current
2. ) Evaluate Records
What settings can be used when previewing records to make it easire to read?
The Filter Choices
What filter choice can be used if your changes are not showing on the initial preview?
All Items
What preview filter setting limits the display to just items that are different across environments?
Items with differences
What tool can be used to evaluate the entire package including all queued records and dependancies?
Evaluate Records
What does the Evaluate Records tool use to compare all selected records/dependencies between environments?
Proactive Query
What needs to be done before you click the Evaluate Records button?
Calculate Dependancies
What color are the records with differences highlighted in within the evaluate records activity?
Orange
What are dependencies?
When one record links to another, the second record is a dependency of the first. Similarly, when a record refers to a value from a category list, the category list is a dependency of the record.
What is a Networked Item?
an item that stores the record ID of a record in another masterfile.
What should always be performed after you Calculate Dependencies and prior to sending your records or categories?
Validate your by using the Preview Current or Evaluate Records tool.
