Q

What is the purpose of Data Courier?

A
  • Allow initial data build in non-production settings
  • Eliminate need to manually recreate static objects in multiple environments (copy-downs)
  • Control what data is copied from one environment to another
  • Maintain data integrity when moving data

Q

What are a few Data Courier challeges?

A
  • Epic is in the process of enabling all static master files
  • CIDs for records and categories must be in sync across environments
  • DC cannot guarantee preservation of record ID (.1) or category numbers
  • Cannot undo the effect of a transmission

Q

What are dependencies?

A

When one record links to another, the second record is a dependency of the first. Similarly, when a record refers to a value from a category list, the category list is a dependency of the record.

25
Q

These records appear in the Data Courier dependency window colored RED.

A

Will Not Be Triggered: These records do not exist in the destination environment, and the Data Courier cannot send them.

26
Q

These records appear in the Data Courier dependency window colored BLACK.

A

Will Be Triggered: These records do not exist in the destination environment, so the Data Courier will send them with the selected records.

27
Q

These records appear in the Data Courier dependency window colored PURPLE.

A

Existing Records (Will Not Be Triggered): These records already exist in the destination environment, and are not sent.

28
Q

These records appear in the Data Courier dependency window colored GREEN.

A

Existing Non-Enabled Records (Will Not Be Triggered): These records already exist in the destination environment, but the Data Courier cannot send updates. If a record needs to be updated, you must make the changes manually in the destination environment.

29
Q

These records appear in the Data Courier dependency window colored BLUE.

A

Existing Epic Released Records (Will Not Be Triggered): These records are standard in all environments and cannot be edited.

30
Q

What do I do with dependencies that appear in the Will Not Be Triggered list (RED)?

A
  1. ) The record must be created in the destination environment.
  2. ) When the record exists in the destination environment, sync the CIDs.
  3. ) After the CIDs have been synced, click “Calculate Dependencies” to refresh the dependencies list. The records in the Will Not Be Triggered list should have moved to the Existing Non-Enabled Records list.
31
Q

How do you change the Destination or DC path?

A

click the Edit button and change destination/path.

32
Q

What is the TMC policy for the mandatory comment field?

A

Always include the heat ticket # and a brief description (INI, application, etc…)

33
Q

How can you verify that your package was sent successfully using Data Courier?

A

Select Packages Sent activity in Data Courier.

34
Q

WHat does it mean if ther is an error displayed for your package?

A

That some or all of the category lists or records may not have made it into the destination environment.

35
Q

Where can you find known issues for Data Courier?

A

In the Data Courier Issues List in Sherlock

36
Q

What is the cause of the “Ack Missing” error?

A

If the record is opened in the target environment when being sent via Data Courier, the record will not be updated and a “Ack Missing” Error will occur and will resolve itself when the record is closed.

37
Q

Who controls the Data Courier System Configuration settings?

A

The Data Courier Administrators

38
Q

What master files contain the Data courier System Configuration settings?

A

EGC and ECI master files

39
Q

WHere should all changes be made for Data Courier enabled masterfiles?

A

all changes to the record(s) should be done in REL and moved up to TEST, SUP, and PROD using Data Courier.

40
Q

What is put in place to prevent records from being modified in target environments?

A

Item Protection

41
Q

What can be enabled to allow certain items within a masterfile to be ‘unlocked’ for modifications in the target environment?

A

Item Protection Exclusion

42
Q

What could stop the rsending and receiving of all Data Courier messages?

A

Interfaces are not running

43
Q

What are the Unique CID prefixes for each TMC environments?

A

REL - 320
TST - 220
PRD - 120

44
Q

When mapping CID’s, which environment is your source of truth?

A

Production

45
Q

What must be done prior to sending dependencies that “Will Be Triggered” (Black)?

A

Before sending, preview the records to be sure that the appropriate items are being sent.

46
Q

What options do you have for “Existing Records (Will Not Be Triggered)” (Purple) dependencies?

A

You can Preview the records to verify that they are up to date in the destination environment. If a record has been changed in the source environment and needs to be sent, right-click on the item and select Add to Selected Records.

47
Q

What options do you have for “Existing Non-Enabled Records (Will Not Be Triggered) (Green) dependencies?

A

If a record needs to be updated, you must make the changes manually in the destination environment.

48
Q

What does it mean when a master file is enabled?

A

That master file can be sent with the Data Courier.

49
Q

What should you do if you encounter a “Non-Existing Epic Released” dependency?

A

Contact your Epic Technical Service Representative.

50
Q

What is the purpose of a pointer and what data is stored for this type of item?

A

A pointer links an item to a category list or a record. The item stores the category value of the category entry or the local ID of the networked record.

51
Q

True or False: Category dependencies will always be sent along with the selected records in a package.

A

True.

52
Q

What does the Preview Changes Report compare?

A

the items of the record in the source environment, and those in the target environment.

53
Q

In the preview changes report, why might the destination environment column be blank?

A

The record being compared does not exist in the target environment.

54
Q

When would you use Advanced Options?

A

when you only want to move specific items or groups of items within a record.

55
Q

What is the purpose of an item profile group?

A

They ensure that only data relevant to a specific purpose is moved to the target environments. They are especially useful for master files shared between multiple applications.

56
Q

How are all custom category lists moved between environments?

A

Via Data Courier.

57
Q

How can you add records that are hidden or soft-deleted?

A

Type ‘hidden.xxx’ where ‘x’ is the record ID.

58
Q

If there is an error with your package, what information should you collect to send to the Data Courier Administrator?

A

1) The Package ID.
2) When you sent the package.
3) The source and destination enviornments
4) Whether the error was a package error or message error.
5) a)For categories, the master file, item, and value.
5) b)For records, the master file record, and contact
6) which error occurred? (Error code)

59
Q

What does error 182001-Could not file message mean, and is it a fatal error?

A

60
Q

What does error-182003-Contact Received Out of Order mean, and what can you try to resolve it?

A

This message is recorded when your target environment receives information for a new contact, or a later contact, but an earlier contact does not exist in your environment. Try re-sending all contacts for the affected record.

61

A

Contact your Data Courier Administrator.

62
Q

What does an error 182013-Category Creation Warning likely indicate?

A

Two environments have created similar category list entries, possibly for the same concept. To improve data consistency, you can deactivate one of the category list entries, so that you only provide one entry for the concept.
