What is “economics of scale”?
The larger the data center the lower the operational cost.
What is LAN/SAN/NAS?
LAN: connects clients to servers.
SAN (Storage Area network): connects servers to network storage.
NAS (Network Attached Storage): connects clients to disks.
Why are GPUs better to use in data centers?
Cause they are optimized for performance per watt, not just pure performance like CPUs. And energy use is more important than power.
What is “size scalability”?
Increase/decrease machine size.
What is HPC?
What is HTC?
High Performance Computing:
Compute-oriented systems based on cutting edge hardware such as high performance cpu interconnects.
High Throughput Computing:
Data-oriented systems based on common hardware for farming jobs without a good interconnect.
What are the four types of different losses that we secure cloud systems for?
Confidentiality, integrity, availability, false authentication.
