A physical facility where enterprise organizations deploy their IT Infrastructure
What are the key components of a data center?
Data centers comprise of compute servers, networking equipment and storage systems.
What is an enterprise data center
A DC that is operated and owned by individual companies to meet their needs for internal applications, data storage and processing
What is a colocation data center?
These facilities provide space and power for companies to rent and house their own infrastructure
What is a Cloud data center?
Operated by hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP on a pay as you go basis.
Why are data centers important?
DCs are important because they store & run mission critical and business critical data / applications
What are mission critical applications?
A collection of application resources that must always be available, resilient to failures and underperformance.
What are some examples of mission critical applications?
Point of sale systems, CRM and ERP apps and payment software
