Data you can act upon, Knowing the numbers allows to predict. WHAT is likely to happen.
Prescriptive Data
How can I use data to change my instruction and adjust my teaching approach. WHAT should be done
Descriptive Data
Survey, collecting and analyzing previous data. WHAT happened?
Diagnostic Data
Asks for other assessments to evaluate. WHY did it happen?
3 purposes of data types
Research, Accountability, Improvement
Interval
data is placed in a pattern from low to high has established equal gaps between points
Ordinal
Data is placed in a pattern from low to high
Competency-based assessment
Evaluates students skills. Give authentic assessments to adress compentency
Criterion Referenced assessment
A form of a criteria that must be met. Based on CCSS.
Ipsative assessments
Measures student’s growth from point A to point B.
Norm-referenced assessments
ACT, scoring scale is based off on other people. Compare the assessment score to peers.
Standards-based assessments
This has to be done/met. Governing authority.
Traditional based assessments
quizzes, multiple choice tests.
Goals vs Objective
Goal: Simple, by the end of the week I will be able to hit a target with an arrow
Objective: Measurable, on the 7th day I will hit the bullseye 3/5 shots.
