Data Flashcards
Quantitive data
Data obtained by counting or measuring( numerical data)
Qualitative
Data that describes a quality or non numerical item
What forms does quantitative data come in
Discrete data and continuous data
Discrete data
Exact values. From example you can count the number of children in a class
Continuous data
Take any value in a given range. Example time.
Continuous data
Take any value in a given range. Example time and distance
Example of qualitative data
Colour of something or make of an item
Example of quantitative data
Number of children in a house hold or height of a building
What type of data is the weight of a car
Continuous quantitive
Primary data
Collected first hand. Example interview
Secondary data
Collected by someone else- document on internet
What is sampling
Choosing part or some of the population to collect data on
What is a random sample
All items have the same chance of selection
What is a cluster sample
A random sample taken out of a certain group of people(cluster of people)
What is stratified sampling
A random sample that is taken from each layer and the size of the samples are proportional to the size of the strata
