Dash 8 Systems Flashcards
The accessory gearbox is driven by and operates What?
Driven by the high pressure compressor rotor (NH) and operates the
Oil pressure oil scavenge pump
High pressure fuel pump
D.C. Starter generator
What does the battery master do?
Provides 24 volts (both batteries) to both essential buses.
What does the Main battery do?
Connects the main battery to the right main feeder bus if the battery master is selected.
What does the bus tie switch do?
Tie the L to the R main feeder bus.
The BBPU inhibits bus tie operation when fault is detected.
What does the D.C. Ext power do?
Ties all buses to the 28 volt power source
AHRS TEST INDICATIONS
10 degree pitch up 20 degrees right bank 3 degrees per sec change in heading 5 lights ATT and HDG Fail
EFIS test
All flags in view
Rad Alt reads 100 ft.
DC Logic
Automatic bus tie, 4 ties connect the appropriate feeder buses together whenever one or more DC power sources are unavailable making sure all buses are powered
What is powered off the hot bus
Emergency call
Dome light
Fire extinguisher discharge
During normal operations which flight instruments receive information directly from ADC?
EADI, EHSI, altimeter, IVSI, Vmo barber pole
What information does the #1 ADC receive?
Pitot/static, temperature, altimeter, and NAV
What is the indication of an ADC failure? And if failed what action should be taken?
Altitude alerter has dashes, SAT has dashes, message: FDDAC invalid, fail flag on ALT, IVSI becomes VSI
Should switch ADC with HSI select
What is the indication of CRT failure and what action should be taken? Limitation?
Black screen
Other pilot flies and switch to composite mode
Limitation is no ILS
What is the indication of a symbol generator data failure? And what action should be taken?
CRT black use REVN mode.
What is the indication of a symbol generator processor?
Red X
What are the standard operating modes for AHRS?
Normal-attitude and Slaved-heading
What are the reduced operating modes for the AHRS?
Basic-attitude and DG-heading
What is the basic mode of the AHRS? And what are the limitations for take off in a reduced operating mode of the AHRS?
Basic operates conventional gyro with increase in airspeed will show slight climb.
Limitation for takeoff prohibited
How do you disengage autopilot?
YD or AP switch off, AP DISENG on control wheel, GA (red button), stall warning test switch
What will cause the landing gear warning horn to sound?
- Flaps>10 degrees, autofeather system off, and power levers below takeoff setting
- Both power levers are at or near flight idle and KIAS <130
- One power lever at or near FLT IDLE, other power lever advanced, KIAS < 130, horn switch not latched at mute
When will the takeoff warning horn sound?
Weight on wheels with either torque gage above 50% and one of the following conditions
Engine ECU not at TOP Elevator trim out of takeoff range Parking brake set to park One or both condition levers not at max Flaps extended more than 15 or less than 5 degrees
BBPU?
Provides the DC generators and batteries with automatic overload protection from a bus fault also monitors generator output through the GCUs, prevents the two main/secondary bus ties from closing, isolating the bus, after 7 to 10 seconds the BBPU will disconnect the affected generator MAIN BATTERY or AUX BATTERY caution light and related #1 DC GEN or #2 DC GEN caution light comes on.
DC logic
controls the 4 bus tie contractors to connect the appropriate feeder buses together when there are one or more DC power sources not operating.
