Darcy's law Flashcards
steady state flow
When water moves at constant rate and there is no change with time.
Transient state flow
When water doesn’t move at constant rate and there is change in velocity with time.
Hydraulic conductivity
K is hydraulic conductivity which is the ability of soil to conduct water through it.
Laminar flow
If water moves in stream with straight bottom and not too much slope then the flow of water is called laminar flow.
Turbulent flow
If a big piece of rock is present in stream, then there will be velocity of water which cause turbulence in water flow this type of flow is called turbulent flow.
Transitional flow
In between turbulent and laminar, the flow is called transitional flow.
Fluidity
Ability of fluid to be conducted/passed through soil or ability of soil to conduct fluid.
Unsaturated zone
Water flow when larger pores in soil are filled with air is said to be unsaturated.
Advective transport
Chemical species dissolved in water are transported with the water. This type of transport is termed the mass flow of solutes. It is also called advective transport, which is transfer of energy or matter by the movement of fluids.
