Definition of a dangerous offender
A
“there is a significant risk to members of the public of serious harm occasioned by the commission by him of further specified offences”.

Life sentences for dangerous offenders
A
- D is convicted of a specified offence,
- The offence is imprisonable for life,
- The seriousness of the offence is such as to justify the imposition of a life sentence

Second Listed offences
A
- D is convicted of a Schedule 15B offence
- D has already has a Schedule 15B conviction for which he was sentences to life or 10 years +
- The court would otherwise impose 10 years +

Extended sentences
A
- D is convicted of a specified offence,
AND EITHER
- D has a Schedule 15B conviction, or
- The court would impose a term of 4 years +

A D with an extended sentence will not be automatically eligible for bail if
A
His sentence was for 10 years or more, or Schedule 15B.
