fever and headache due to loss of blood
T: pale
P: flooding, large, deficient that is forceless when pressed hard
Diagnostic Pattern
Qi and blood deficiencies due to overexertion; heat from deficiency characterized by blood deficiency and floating yang.
Herbs
huáng qí
jiŭ xĭ dāng guī
huáng qí
strongly tonifies the original qi of the Spleen
secures the exterior
turning qi inward: facilitate the production of blood, which is produced by the qi transformations of the middle burner
augmenting qi supports movement and transformation: reinforces the generation of blood on a second level
dāng guī
tonifies and invigorates the blood: works better in generating new blood than do other, more cloying substances
replenishes the “qi of the blood”: works particularly well with huáng qí (indirectly tonifies the blood by tonifying the qi)
Cautions and Contraindications
Cautions in cases with tidal fever from yin deficiency.
