Obusan founded the Ramon
Obusan Folkloric Group (ROFG) in 1971, and the group quickly gained popularity for its sincere and faithful portrayals of Filipino folk dance. He compiled all of his study on Philippine traditional and ritual dances into Dances of the Philippines, which he then wrote.

She was the founding director of the Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company and was named
National Artist of the Philippines for
dance in 1988.
She worked to translate folk dancing into the realm of theater. She adapted indigenous dance traditions to the demands of the modern stage, and performances of her works received international attention.

Leonor Orosa-Goquingco was inclined not only to classical ballet but also to Indian and Spanish, as well as modern, dance. She is noted for her courage in breaking traditions in dance despite public indifference. She founded the Filipinescas Dance Company and the Philippine Theatre Dance Group. She was also an author, mentor, dancer and art critic.
