EMERGENCY LIGHTS– ARMED

A
  1. Select emergency light switch to “ARMED” position
  2. Test the lights using switch “ON” or the FA panel
  3. Conduct the test in the shortest possible time, as batteries are not charging in the “ON” mode

+ Backup battery (XR only)

A

After “Aural Unit OK” message sounds:

1. Deselect backup battery button
2. Ensure ISIS remains energized

CAUTION: BKUP BATT OFF BUS

Why?
If backup battery button is deselected, only source of power for ISIS is backup battery

Fuel pumps – CKD & ON

A
  1. Turn both pump power knob ON
  2. Select desired fuel pumps
  3. Ensure applicable pumps are annunciated on the MFD
\+ First flight
 	Check crossfeed
	1.  Select crossfeed LOW 1
	2.  Observe:
		a.  FUEL XFEED OPEN
		b.  Tank #1 fuel pump "OFF" on the MFD fuel page
	3.  Repeat for Low 2
	4.  Set crossfeed to desired position, once check is complete

APU Start Procedure

A
  1. Confirm APU bleed is closed
  2. Turn #2 fuel pump ON, or
    Select XFEED OPEN and turn on #1 fuel pump
  3. If starting with batteries, ensure Shed Bus Auto
  4. APU Master Knob ON– Wait 3 seconds
  5. Ensure APU temperature indication appears on the EICAS
  6. Rotate to START momentarily– Release
  7. Monitor EGT and RPM on EICAS

If the APU Generator is greater than 500 amp, why do we turn off #1 battery?

A

This procedure will prevent the electrical system’s overcurrent protection from activating, which may cause the system to revert to essential power mode

If the load on the APU generator exceeds 500 amps…

A
  1. Turn the #1 BATT knob to OFF
  2. After:
    a. 3 minutes, or
    b. Load decreases to under 400 amps,
    whichever occurs later, then
  3. Turn the #1 BATT knob back to AUTO
  4. Place the shed bus to OVRD

A

Amperage output for APU generator may temporarily be greater than 400 Amps as the generator recharges the batteries.

Ice Protection “A” Test

A
  1. Configure bleeds:
    Engine bleeds OPEN
    APU bleeds CLOSED
    Crossbleed AUTO
  2. Parking Brake SET
  3. Thrust levers 83% N2
  4. Ice Detection Override Knob: ALL
  5. Ice Detection Test Knob: 1, then 2, 10-15 seconds each
    OPEN inscriptions on deice valve buttons
    Cautions: ICE DET 1 (2) FAIL, BLD 1 (2) LOW TEMP,
    XRJ–CLR ICE 1/2, CLR/I INOP 1/2
    Advisory: ICE CONDITION
  6. Thrust Levers: IDLE
  7. Ice Detection Override Knob: AUTO or ENG, as appropriate
