Daily Flashcards
Engine Damage is…
Two or more of the following -
~Rapid increase of EGT above the red line
~Important mismatch of the rotor speeds or no rotation
~Significant increase of aircraft vibration, or buffeting or both
~Hydraulic system loss
~Repeated or uncontrollable engine stalls
The sim will show xx for engine damage
Stall
STALL I HAVE CONTROL
Nose down pitch…apply
Bank…wings level
When out of the stall
Thrust…Increase smoothly as needed
Speedbrakes…Check retracted
Flight path…recover
If clean and below 20,000ft
Flap 1…select
Unreliable Airspeed
UNRELIABLE AIRSPEED
If the safe conduct of flight is impacted
AP…off
FD…off
ATHR…off
Pitch/Thrust
Below thrust reduction alt…TOGA/15•
Below 10,000ft…CLB/10•
Above 10,000ft…CLB/5•
If flaps 0-3…Maintain config
If flaps full…Select config 3
Speedbrakes…check retracted
Landing gear…Up
When at or above MSA of circuit altitude, level off for troubleshooting
To level use pitch thrust tables in QRH and GPS altitude
If the safe conduct of flight is NOT impacted
Run ECAM first otherwise QRH
You may need to go back and forth between the two but don’t forget to finish QRH
When using Manual Cabin Pressure -
Go to PRESS pg or CRUISE
Switch UP will open the outflow valve making cabin altitude go UP
Switch DOWN will close the outflow valve making cabin altitude go DOWN
Prior to approach go to PRESS pg and hold switch fully up until you see the valve in the fully open position
When using Back Up Nav -
Select the guarded NAV
Select ILS and tune freq
Press Stby/Crs button and tune inbound course
Select LS Rose
HDG window dial in the inbound course
If the pitch becomes out of control because of the aircraft protections going too far then turn off 2 ADRs to go into Alternate Law
Cabin Decompression
Aircraft control
Check and confirm problem
MOME
EMERGENCY DESCENT
Oxygen Masks…Use (ACP Int for mike)
Seatbelt Signs…On
Emergency Descent…Initiate
Alt set and pull, Hdg set and pull, Speed pull
THR IDLE - HDG - OP DES
If A/Thr not active…Thrust levers Idle
Speedbrake…Full (carefully)
If no damage then increase airspeed
MOME
Oxygen Pax Masks can be turned on early if obvious that the cabin altitude will exceed 14,000ft (Don’t confuse MASK MAN ON with RAT)
Level at 10,000ft and settle aircraft in cruise
Remove masks, deactivate mic by closing left door of stowage and resetting slide controller
Assess Condition
Call cabin
When do you Cancel Approach vs Go-around procedure?
When on an ILS, GLS or FINAL APP approach
And above FCU altitude (you can do either)
Say CANCEL APPROACH and press APPR button
Adjust lateral, vertical, speed as required
When below the FCU altitude you must do the missed approach procedure
What can happen if you overfly the runway without being in go-around?
It goes to DONE and deletes FMGC so either activate secondary or go-around mode
Unless you haven’t activated approach mode
Loss of Braking
LOSS OF BRAKING
Reverse levers…Max
Brake pedals…Release
Antiskid…Order off
A/Skid & N/W STRG…Off
Brake pedals…Press
Max Brake Pr…1000psi
If still no braking…
Park Brake…Use
