Q

Contact areas on Posterior teeth as a generality, have proximal contact areas where?

A
  • positioned in the middle 1/3 of the crown occlusocervically
  • Mesial contact area is typically positioned more occlusally than the distal
  • Contact areas are ovoid, slightly wider in a faciolingual dimension

Q

What are the exceptions to the general rules to contact areas on posterior teeth

A
  1. Mesial contact area of mandibular 1st premolar is positioned more cervically (Sloped MMR) than the distal
  2. Contact areas on the medial surfaces of the maxillary & mandibular molars are located at the junction of the occlusal & middle 1/3
