Cytology Flashcards

1
Q

What are the three different types of cell transport

A
  1. Bulk transport - pinocytosis or phagocytosis
  2. Active transport - uses ATP
  3. Passive transport - diffusion or osmosis

Q

What are the 5 steps of cell Transport

A
  1. Diffusion - substance moves from the High concentration to Low concentration
  2. Osmosis - semipermeable membrane
  3. Active transport - From Low to High concentration, ATP, e.g. how cardiac muscles work
  4. Phagocytosis - cell can ‘eat’ particles that are too large to be absorbed by diffusion etc
  5. Pinocytosis - ‘cell drinking’ liquids rather than solid (similar to phago)
