What is Section 215 CYPFA
Child or young person to be informed of rights before questioned by Police
What is Section 215A CYPFA
Rights to be explained to CYP on request

What is Section 221 CYPFA
Admissibility of statements made by CYP:
No oral or written statements made or given to any enforcement officer by a CYP to whom this section applies is admissible in evidence in any proceedings against that CYP unless:
Before the statement was made or given, the enforcement officer has explained in a manner and in language that is appropriate, their BOR AND
Where the CYP wishes to consult with a barrister or solicitor and any person nominated by that CYP, before making or giving a statement, the CYP consults with those persons AND
The CYP makes or gives the statement in the presence of 1 or more of the following: Nominated person, barrister or solicitor, or any person listed in S222, or any other adult not an enforcement officer.
What is Section 222 CYPFA
Persons who may be nominated for the purpose of section 221
Who is a suitable nominated person?
A parent or guardian
An adult member of the family or whanau of the CYP;
Any other adult
If CYP fails or refuses, any person nominated by an enforcement officer, not being an enforcement officer
Grounds to refuse a nominated person
Likely to pervert the course of justice
Cannot be located within a reasonable amount of time
What is Section 229 CYPFA
Parents or guardians or other persons to be informed where CYP at enforcement agency for questioning in relation to an offence or is arrested
