What is a DDOS attack?
Large scale, coordinated attack designed to slow down a server to the point of it becoming unstable.
What is data interception?
Compromise of usernames, passwords etc.. by collecting data transferred on a network.
What is malware?
Any software created with malicious intent to cause harm to a computer system.
What is Phishing?
Sending fraudulent emails/SMS to a large number of people to gain access to details.
Difference between a virus and a worm
Worms will spread to other drives and computers in the network, virus remain on a single computer.
What is authentification?
Ensuring that a system is secure by asking the user to complete tasks to prove they are an authorized user.
Define Firewall
Security system that monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic and uses a set of rules to determine flow.
What is a proxy server?
Server that acts as an intermediary between a users device and internet. Hides IP address and location.
What does SSL stand for?
Secure Socket Layer
Name three methods someone can keep their data safe.
Firewall, Password, Two-step authentication.
Identify and describe two methods someone could get information to steal bank details electronically.
Phishing- send fake email and link so people enter in details thinking it is the bank.
Hacking- Hackers get unauthorized access to computer and finding bank details.
