Name three main types of “hat” attackers.
White hat, gray hat, black hat.
What is a script kiddie?
Amateur or inexperienced hackers, using pre existing tools and information.
What is a white hat attacker?
A legally approved attacker whose intent is to expose vulnerabilities in systems and networks so that they may be improved upon.
What is a gray hat attacker?
An illegal attacker who sets out to expose vulnerabilities in networks and systems, but their intentions are sometimes less noble.
What is a black hat attacker?
An illegal attacker who exposes and exploits vulnerabilities in networks and systems for personal, financial, or political gain.
What is an internal threat?
An accidental or intentional threat posed by individuals or groups within an organisation.
What is an external threat?
A usually intentional threat posed by individuals or groups outside of an organisation.
What is cyberwarfare?
An attack of another nation’s network and systems, usually state sanctioned.
Name three possible desired results of cyberwarfare.
Damage or disruption of infrastructure, stealing intelligence, the spread of misinformation, disabling military operations, espionage, undermining of political stability.
