Q
What happens in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome (congenital condition)?
A
Intermittent tachycardia + signs of pre-excitation on ECG
Exhibits atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia (AVRT) - caused by accessory pathway aka Bundle of Kent (conducts impulses from atria —> ventricles)
Typical ECG findings: shorted PR interval + “slurred” upstroke in QRS complex, called a “delta” wave
