Q

what are the two descent waves in a CVP? describe each

A

X descent: downward displacement during ventricular systole (ie volume of RV reduced due to blood being ejected into pulm art)
Y descent: tricuspid valve opening during diastole–ie Releases RA and vena cava pressure established when tricuspid was closed.

Q

what are the 3 port colors and fxn on a CVP catheter

A

Q

CVP contraindications (name 3 of the 4)

A
  • renal cell tumor extending into the right atrium
  • fungating tricuspid valve vegetation
  • ipsilateral carotid endarterectomy
  • relative contraindications in coag (cuz cant apply direct art pressure should it get damaged)
