CVD risk assessment Flashcards
Risk factors
Modifiable:
- Smoking, Diet, Exercise, Alcohol, Weight, T2DM
NON Modifiable:
- Age, Male, Genetics, Ethnicity
Co-Morbidities:
- HTN, Diabetes, CKD, Influenza, Serious mental health, Dyslipidaemia
Tests
People with Co morbidities need to do a Q-risk assessment.
- 10 Year CVD risk =/> Give Statin.
- If they high risk regardless of Q-risk Statin is given anyways.
CVD Risk Assessment(EXAM Q)
- Used to check if statin should be given for primary prevention.
Give IF 10 yr CVD risk =/>10%
Qrisk 2- estimates 10 yr risk
Qrisk 3 - updated version of Qrisk 2
JBS3 - Estimates lifetime & 10 yr risk of CV event
ASSIGN - Estimates 10 yr risk (Scotland specific)
These Calculators NOT GOOD for High risk PTs BC they underestimate the scores
HIGH RISK PTs: T1DM, Established CVD, CKD, Familiar hypercholesterolaemia, Risk increases with age >85 high if they smoke or have HTN, 10 yr risk of CVD =/>10%.
- FPR HIGH RISK NO TESTED NEEDED JUST GIVE STATIN.
Primary and secondary prevention note
Statin used in BOTH (low dose for primary, secondary and high intensity statin - ATORVA>Simva)
Antihypertensive used in primary if high risk & BO>140/90
Secondary if BP >140/90
Antiplatelet Secondary only
