What is a stroke?
A
Where part of the blood flow to the brain is impaired through a clot or bleed which typically form where there has been a narrowing of arteries due to plaque. this causes parts of the brain to be damaged or die.

common features of a stroke?
A
unilateral or facial/limb weakness, speech problems, cognitive decline, decreased balance, behavioural changes, nausea, drop in consciousness, pupil changes.

Whats the name of a less severe stroke?
A
Transient ischaemic attack (TIA)

What is a TIA?
A
A temporary reduction in blood supply to the brain. Causes similar symptoms to a stroke but they usually resolve within 24 hours.
