Commanding Officer/Officer-in-Charge responsibilities?
- Ensure’s cutter personnel receive the quantity and quality of training needed to carry out assigned missions.
- Approves the unit training plan.
Indoctrination Program.
a. Assignment of a mentor or running mate to guide the new member through the cutter’s work
day and watchstation qualification process.
b. Commencement of certain WQS, PQS or JQRs, particularly Damage Control WQS.
c. Completion of “check-in” sheets and initial interviews with department/division chiefs and
others in the chain-of-command, as appropriate.
d. Completion of EGRESS and Emergency Escape Breathing Device (EEBD) training.
e. Assignment of qualifications or competencies required by the billet or command to ensure
minimum required watch rotations and to maintain operational readiness.
f. Assignment of the progression of qualifications and the expected timing of completion of each.
Completion of the doctrine program shall be completed?
The indoctrination program should be structured so that it can be completed within two weeks of the member reporting aboard.
What is the MTL?
- All cutter Master Training Lists (MTLs) are in table format and are administrative tools used to present formal school requirements.
- Cutter MTLs are posted and maintained on the Commandant (CG-751) portal
What is Pipeline Training?
Pipeline Training is training deemed essential for a member’s success at a new unit
The following are categories of pipeline training (PT):
(1) Pre Arrival Training (PRE).
2. Required Training (REQ). Training deemed essential for a specific billet but not required to be completed by a member before reporting to the new unit.
(3) Permanent Change of Station (PCS). More than 20 weeks.
4. Online Training (ONLINE).
