Professional Learning - What is it?
Professional learning allows teacher to engage to stimulate their thinking and professional knowledge to ensure their practice is critically informed and current.
What is the purpose of the professional standards in Scotland?
To create a shared language for teachers and to provide a benchmark for teaching competency and a framework for career progression and development.
Within everyday life the professional standards have a valuable meaning.
They should be used as a method of helping reflection and self-evaluation and to engage in critical thinking
Why is the standard for provisional registration important
They help set the benchmark for what all teachers should strive to work towards and achieve in their everyday practices.

- To record, analyse and use assessment data to promote development.
- Use results to identify development needs.
- Use a range of differentisted assessment techniques.
- Contribute to clear, informative reports
Why is it important to engage learner participation?
- To demonstrate care and commitment and to value their participation
- To help develop and promote positive relationships
What is the curriculum for excellence?
It is the foundations of the education system in Scotland which aims to provide young people with all of the cognitive and physical skills to be effective in the world after school

What is the Broad General Education?
The BGE phase aims to deliver a wide variety of skills and develop flexible and adaptable young people with the knowledge needed to thrive.
This phase is also predicated around developing literacy, numeracy and cognitive skills.
What is the Senior Phase
The senior phase aims to build a portfolio of qualifications and skills to thrive now and in the future, it could also be described as the totoality of the education system.
