Q

What ‘s the unit of current

What is potential difference - what’s another name for it

Definition of resistance - what unit is it measured in

The current flowing through a component depends on ….

A

Unit of current = Ampere

Potential Difference (voltage) is the driving force that pushes the charge around. Unit = Volt

Resistance is anything that slows the flow down . Unit = Ohm

Current flowing through a component depends on the Potential Difference across it and the resistance of the component

Q

Total charge through a circuit depends on .,

When a current flows past a point in a circuit for a length of time,then the charge is given by the formula ….

A

Total charge through a circuit depends on Current and Time

Q = it

Q= Charge flow (coulombs C). I = current (A) t = Time (s)

Q

What’s an Ammeter

How should the Ammeter be placed

A

Measures current (in amps) flowing through test wire

Ammeter must always be placed in series with whatever investigating

Q

What does Voltmeter do

How should Voltmeter meter be placed

A
  • measures the potential difference (or pd) across test wire (in volts)
  • voltmeter must always be placed in parallel around whatever is being investigated - not around any other bit if circuit
