26
Q

How would you Ohm fuses to see if they are Good or Bad?

A

If the Ohms comes up as 0 ohms it’s Good; if it comes up as 240 ohms it is bad because they are on the same line & it is in series with the load.

27
Q

What types of overload resets are there?

A

Manuel reset automatic reset

28
Q

What is the proper way discharge capacitor?

A

2 watt 15,000-20,000 resister

29
Q

How to reverse a 3 phase Motor?

A

Change any two leads

30
Q

A/C equipment is set to work in what range?

A

10%

31
Q

What types of transformers are there?

A

Y and Delta

32
Q

What do transformers do?

A

Step up and step down

33
Q

What is a transient voltage?

A

Transient voltage can occur on the low voltage power circuits and can peek values in the many thousands of votes electrical storms even of miles away or they can be caused when a major load is added or dropped from the system examples of changes in the load could be an auto accident where a utility pole was damaged or a large piece of equipment starting or stopping

34
Q

How are capacitors rated?

A

Polarized non polarized and variable

35
Q

How many parts are in a motor?

A

Stator and rotor

36
Q

What advantages do 3 phase motors have over single phase motors?

A

They are easily reversible. The direction of rotation can be changed by interchanging any two supply voltage lines. They have higher efficiency.

36
Q

How is the speed of a motor determined?

A

The speed of a motor is determined by the number of stator coils and the hertz of the alternating current pg 591

37
Q

Describe the basic structure of an atom?

A

Atoms are made of small particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons are positively charged and electrons are negatively charged and neutrons have no charge.

38
Q

Explain the difference between alternating current A/C and direct current D/C?

A

Electron flow in one direction is called direct current. This type of current flow is used with battery powered devices. Alternating current reverses direction at regular intervals. A/C is used for power distribution because of it’s ability to be easily transformed to different voltage levels, allowing for high voltage transmission and reducing line loss.

39
Q

How are ECM’s built?

A

They consist of a motor and a control module. The rotor of the ECM is a permanent magnet, and the stator is wound like a 3 phase motor.

40
Q

What’s the difference between dual element fuse and one time fuse?

A

Dual element fuse is used for motor starting, one time fuse is a fuse with Little time delay in opening and little tolerance for surge current.

41
Q

How are length and diameters of screws given?

A

The length of the screw is given from the tip of the screw to the base of the head of the screw or level with the top of flat head screws

42
Q

An internal compressor overload is wired

A

In series with the common terminal

43
Q

What is the difference between a contactor and a motor starter?

A

The motor starter has built in overload protection

44
Q

Current is measured in what?

A

Amps

45
Q

Resistance is measured in what?

A

Ohms

46
Q

Electrical power is measured in what?

A

Watts

47
Q

What’s the diff between static electricity and dynamic electricity?

A

Dynamic:motion
Static:stationary

48

53
Q

Split phase motor centrifugal SW opens at what % of speed?

A

70-80% of normal operating speed

54
Q

What is the difference between the generator and an alternator?

A
