Culture
Refers to the entire way of life of a particular society, considers the whole system of behaviour and beliefs of a society which includes: knowledge, language, faith, art, music, fashion, etc.
Norms
Rules about everyday behaviour. Behaviour that is considered ‘normal’.
Expected patterns of behaviour (based on values).
Values
Ideas concerning what is good or bad. What is seen as important or worthwhile.
Social construct
An idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society (usually changes over time)
Cultural diversity
Culture is that which shapes us; it shapes our identity and influences our behaviour. Norms and values are relative; what is normal in one culture may seem deviant or offensive in another.
Intercultural diversity
Differences between cultures and countries.

Diversity within a culture/ differences found in a society.
Relative
If something is relative to something else, it changes according to the speed or level of the other thing
Cultural hybridity
A cross or merging of 2 cultures
Multiculturalism
the presence of, or support for the presence of, several distinct cultural or ethnic groups within a society.
Communal diversification
Ethnic groups have long-established communities adding diversity to the dominant way
Global culture
Links to process of globalisation- world becomes interconnected, different cultures influence each other.
Trend of cultural products becoming universal
Loss of national distinctiveness
Been able to happen due to travel + social media
Cultural heterogeneity
Refers to differences in cultural identity related to class, ethnicity, language, traditions etc.
Cultural homogeneity
Is the reduction in cultural diversity through popularisation and diffusion of a wide array of cultural symbols.
