Spuriousness
A
- When you think that something is causing something else, but it isn’t
- Ex- when you think evictions are causing poverty, but it isn’t. But maybe people would be poor even if they hadn’t been evicted.
When you think x is causing y, but in fact x and why are correlated, but not causa - l. It’s important to find a time order to find causality
- Always deal with alternate explanations- this is what an experiment provides
