Reasons why the strange situation is culturaly bias
The research took place on all American children meaning it emphasised the behaviour of one culture and did not take into account others. Japanese children were more likely to be insecure resistant however mary ainsworth shows this as being abnormal.
What is ethnocentrism
Emphasis on your own culture as the ‘norm’

When you only understand behaviour if taking into account the cultural context

-use researchers who are immersed into culture
