What are the four criteria of a cue?
- Easy to give consistently
- Easily perceived by the animal
- Distinct from other cues the animal already knows
- Easy to transfer to others
What are the six components of a fluent Cue?

What is a poisoned Cue?
A Cue that has a negative connotation or negative emotion for the learner
What is a faulty cue?
A Cue that is not clear to the learner the trainer or both
What is a conditioned and positive reinforcer?
A Cue that has been taught with positive reinforcement and is the basis for success and reliably teaching complex behavior chains
What is a chain?
A chain is a series of discrete behaviors performed one after the other.
The behaviors in a chain are linked together by cues which are conditioned reinforcers.
What is a Cue?
A Cue is a greenlight telling the animal it has an opportunity to earn a reinforcement by performing the behavior associated with the cue.
