CT3 Flashcards
How do you compare more than 2 data sets?
ANOVA
Analysis of variance
What is the non parametric equivalent of ANOVA?
Kruskal-Wallis
How do we assess if data sets co-vary?
Correlation
How do we measure the effect of one data set on another?
Regression
How do we test for association between categories?
Chi square
What test do you use if you have one sample and a predefined value?
One sample t-test?
What test do you use if you have 2 samples with different subjects in each sample?
2 sample t-test. (Independent t-test)
What test do you use if you have two samples with the same subjects in each sample?
Paired t-test
What is the purpose of correlation testing?
To test whether two sets of measurements taken on a single population are linearly associated.
In regards to regression analysis what does the r^2 value show?
The proportion of the variance in the data.
If all data points are close to the regression line what will the r^2 value be?
1
If data points are scattered far from regression line what will the r^2 value be?
0
What does ANOVA compare?
Variability between groups
Variability within groups
What are the three assumptions of ANOVA?
- Normally distributed data
- Homogeneous variances (equal variance within each population)
- Sample size roughly equal
What is Levene’s test used for?
To test if samples have equal variance. (Homogeneous variance).
