It is the maximum amount an insurance company will allow you to charge per repair.

What is encapsulated glass?
A glass with a seal surrounding permanently connected to one portion or the entire piece using plastic frame , fasteners, clips etc.

A film placed on the inside of the glass to allow less light transmission.

They control the vehicles ride height and absorbs energy.
What does a shock absorber do.
They keep the tires in contact with the road. They absorb energy by control spring and suspension movement.

Allows shock and steering to swivel

What cannot be repaired by plastic repair?
Bumper reinforcement bars, any high-pressure coolant component, radiators, fuel tanks, batteries, safety related components, any parts prohibited from repair by the vehicle manufacturer.
What does included mean?
When one labor operation is included in the labor allowed for another labor operation already being performed during the repair, therefore no additional labor time can be assigned to the new operation.
What are the five steps of note taking for repairs?
Parts and repairs, blend and detrims, frame and sheet metal pulls, suspension mechanical electrical and SRS then additional items.

When would you use spot refinish?
Spot refinish should be utilized when ever you have the opportunity to avoid clear-coating an entire panel. Can be used under hoods on the rear body panel on the inside of the quarter panels when you are fixing under the engine components like the apron or the .frame.

What does a catalytic converter do?
Contains a material designed to trigger a chemical reaction that purifies the gases

It is used to reduce the noise of the escaping gas exhaust gas

It is also used to reduce noise if exhaust gas
What is the emissions control system?
System that controls the amount of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide that the car releases into the atmosphere
What are the components of the emission systems?
Vapor canister, fuel vent line, PCV valve, EGR valve and catalytic converter
What is a vapor canister and where is it located?
Also called charcoal canister or carbon canister helps control the emissions of hydrocarbons. The charcoal inside the canister absorbs fuel vapor that had evaporated from the fuel tank. It is located in the engine compartment
Where is the fuel vent line?
Carries vapors to the fuel tank. It is between the vapor canister and the fuel tank
What is a PCV Valve?
Positive crankcase ventilation valve. Controls the emissions of hydrocarbons from the crankcase into the intake manifold
What is a EGR Valve?
Exhaust gas recirculation valve. Limits the emissions of hydrocarbons and has an important role in the control of nitrogen oxide emissions

What is a electric control unit?
The electric control unit manages the amplification of voltage within the ignition coil and the distribution of the amplified voltage from the distributor to the spark plugs. It is part of the ignition system.
What is included in the charging system?
Alternator, voltage regulator, battery and ammeter?
What is included in the engine cooling system?
Radiator, radiator hoses, fan, water pump and heater core
What is a water pump?
A water pump, pumps the water-coolant mixture through the engine cooling system via a lower radiator hose.
What is found in the radiator assembly?
Radiator support, upper and lower tie bars, baffles, upper and lower tanks, filler neck, radiator cap, radiator core, tubes, fins, coolant recovery tank
What are tubes?
Tubes are attached to the radiator tanks. These tubes are channels through which the water flow in the radiator.
What are fins?
The tubes are separated by fins. The fins are made of copper aluminum or plastic. As the heated water coolant mixture enters at the top of the radiator and descends into the tubes, air drawn in by the fan rushes through the fins cooling the water with in the radiator tubes.
What’s sits inside the steering wheel and allows the wheel to turn while still keeping an electrical connection for the airbag and other electrical devices within the steering?
