CRRT Flashcards
1
Q
Intensity of CRRT
A
- RENAL Trial (2009): Among ICU patients with acute kidney injury, treatment with higher intensity CRRT did not reduce mortality, improve recovery of kidney function, or reduce the rate of nonrenal organ failure compared with less-intensive therapy.
- ATN Study (2008): In critically ill patients with acute kidney injury, there is no significant difference in 60-day mortality between higher and lower intensity CRRT.

Q
Timing of CRRT
A
- ELAIN Trial (2016): Early initiation of CRRT in patients with sepsis and acute kidney injury was associated with significantly lower 90-day mortality than delayed initiation.
- AKIKI Trial (2016): In patients with severe acute kidney injury but without life-threatening complications related to renal failure, delayed strategy of CRRT was associated with a noninferior rate of survival at 60 days than an early strategy.
