A

1) Lockdown facility temporality until verified report
2) Call Police Nonemergency line to confirm
3) Once verified, have staff tell patrons we are in a lockdown situation and to activate the lockdown procedure (exterior doors locked, rooms where patrons and staff are in are locked, windows are closed and blinds are shut, everyone is to remain quite, away from windows and door if possible)
4) Notify supervisor
5) Monitor the news if possible
6) Once lockdown is lifted, document on a major incident report
7) Debrief with staff
8) Offer support to the patrons if needed
9) Open door policy

Youth is swearing/being aggressive, list the progressive steps to dealing with it

A

1) Talk to the youth about appropriate behaviour as per our City of Toronto Code of Conduct
2) Document all steps on minor report
3) Tell supervisor about incident
4) Remain calm, listen to the youth, see if there is something that triggered the aggressive behaviour and language
5) If behaviour continues, talk to other CRPS and get their input
6) Develop a safe agreement with the youth
7) Behaviour log
8) Communicate incident(s) in facility log book
9) Inform Parents/Caregivers
10) Offer supports to that youth if necessary
11) Consider suspension and withdraw if behaviour contributes

  • Get SAP from supervisor
  • review SAP/Varience Report
  • Look at programs below 50%
  • Look at staffing levels - staff to participate ratios
  • Review cost centres - see if certain lines are underspent
  • Ensure budget is allocated properly, moving money from one cost centre to another
  • alternate funding opportunities through partnerships (Canadian Tire Jumpstart)
  • Use a tracking system to monitor wages, expenses, revenue
  • look at prep time for programs and ensure guidelines are followed - reducing gaps
  • be creative with equipment (reuse in a new way, recycle)
  • ask neighbouring facilities re equipment/supplies
  • review historical budgets to get a better understanding of any problems
  • Look at program plans and anticipate spending
  • review with supervisor to look at spending at other districts within cluster

Can the program be merged with another do it doesn’t have to be canceled?
Why did that program have low registration – lack of interest?
Revaluate for adding the program for the next session
Ok with supervisor to go ahead to cancel program due to low registration if all other options have been explored – cancelling is last resort
