Cross Reference Flashcards
What 7 things are required to be on the dispatch release?
- Aircraft ID (N number)
- Trip number
- Type operation (VFR or IFR)
- Minimum fuel supply
- Departure, destination, alternates
- Latest WX reports/forecasts
- Active MELs and CDLs
When are new releases/amendments required?
- flight delayed more than 2 hours
- intermediate station delay > 2 hours
- flight can’t depart in accordance w/ release
- PIC or dispatcher request a change
- aircraft change
- flight return to departure airport
- crew change (Skywest only)
- MX deferral affecting performance
What is required on a load manifest?
- aircraft, oil, crew members = BOW
- fuel
- cargo
- baggage
- passengers
- total loaded weight and proof CG is in limits
What does PIC have to carry to destination?
Copy of:
- load manifest
- dispatch release
- flight plan (on release)
- copy of cargo load report (CLR)
Is the weather legal to dispatch?
1) Is main body good enough?
2) Is condition weather (if any) good enough? You can use exemption 3585 as long as conditional WX is not less than 1/2 of the minimum.
What is a legal alternate?
1) N/A on Jepp alternate table?
2) single approach 400-1
3) double approach 200-1/2 (no circling, consider WX, add to higher of visibility and ceiling HAT of the two approaches)
- applies to 1st, 2nd, and takeoff alternate
Must always file an alternate unless:
1-2-3 rule: 1 hour before ETA to 1 hour after, ceiling is forecast to be greater than or equal to 2000 ft, and visibility forecast to be greater than or equal to 3 SM
When is a second alternate required?
- When exemption 3585 is used
- Marginal forecast for destination AND 1st alternate
Marginal = destination at landing visibility minimums and 1st alternate at filing minimum (ceiling and visibility)
What 7 things is the PIC required to become familiar with prior to a flight?
- WX reports and forecasts
- Fuel requirements
- Alternates available
- Known traffic delays
- Runway lengths of intended use
- T/O and landing distances
- NOTAMs - chart, local, distant, FDC
Lowest CAT I approach visibility
1800 RVR or 1/2 mile
Lowest CAT II approach visibility
TDZ = 1200 (350 m) MID = 600 (175m) ROL = 300 (75m)
Which RVR is controlling for all CAT II approaches?
TDZ RVR
Which RVR is controlling for CAT II approaches if available?
Mid RVR
When RVR is between 1800 and 1600, which RVR is required and controlling if available?
ROL RVR and must be at least 300 (75m)
Which RVR is required and controlling when RVR is BELOW 1600?
TDZ and ROL
If ROL not available - Mid or Far End RVR may be substituted. Mid must be 600, Far End must be 300
