“A guy needs somebody- to be near him” - emphasises the fact he is human. This highlights the injustice of him not being allowed in the bunkhouse
“I tell ya a guy gets lonely an’ he gets sick” - referred to as “a guy” to make him seem more human so the other characters may empathise with him more

Not only is Crooks the victim of verbal abuse but death threats because of his race
“Keep you place then nigger”
Crooks is at the bottom of the social ladder
“Yes ma’am” - powerless to the prejudice
