A
need 2 of the following:
- Temperature >38 C or <36 C
- Pulse >90
- Respiratory rate >20
- PaCO2 <32 mmHg
- WBC >12,000 or <4,000
- > 10% bands

SIRS + known source of infection

Sepsis + organ dysfunction (ex. altered mental status, renal failure)
