Criteria brain death
1) Coma
2) Absent motor,no decorticate / decerebrate reflex. May have spinal reflexes
3) absent brain stem reflexes
4) absence ventilator effort when arterial CO2 Atleast 60mmHG / 20 mmHG above pretest
Resp failure
1) Pa02 <60mmHG / <8kpa
2) ‘’ ‘’ + PCo2 >50mmHG / >6.7Kpa
ARDS criteria
The Berlin Definition (2013)
acute, with onset over 1 week or less
bilateral opacities consistent with pulmonary edema must be present; they may be detected on CT or chest radiograph
PF ratio <300mmHg with a minimum of 5 cmH20 PEEP
must not be fully explained by cardiac failure or fluid overload, in the physician’s best estimation using available information
Damage control definition
When Pt does not have enough physiological reserve
1) stop haemorrhage+ limit soiling
2) tF ICU continued rescus, correct temp, electro , coagulopathy
3) take back for definitive mx
