something created and defined by society in a specific time frame
How are social constructs constructed?
Culture, time and place/situation.
How does the social construct of culture see criminality?
different cultures have their own set of norms and moral codes to define crimes which shifts from different cultures, many are still driven by religious beliefs and they have their own traditions and history.
How does the social construct of time see criminality?
Societal attitudes are constantly changing things become normalised and accepted and takes a long time to change laws and those campaigning for change.
How does the social construct of place see criminality?
age of criminal responsibility in different countries like 8 vs 18 and having intention behind a crime or not like self defence, men’s rea vs actus Reus and actions are legal or illegal in different situations like in the army killing someone is part of your job
