Precedent

Statutory law
the written law established by enactments expressing the will of the legislature, as distinguished from the unwritten law or common law.
Felony
A graver crime, commonly punished in the U.S. by imprisonment for more than a year.
Misdemeanor
crime offense less serious then a felony
Treason
the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.
Case law
the law as established by the outcome of former cases.
Administrative law
the body of law that regulates the operation and procedures of government agencies.
Procedural law
pleading requirements, discovery rules, or standards of review.
Inchoate offenses
A type of crime completed by taking a punishable step towards the commission of another crime.
