Mental Health Crisis

Action or speech that makes someone annoyed or angry, especially deliberately.
Provocation
A long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation.
Schizophrenia
A mental condition marked by alternating periods of elation and depression.
Bipolar Disorder
A disorder characterized by excessive or unrealistic anxiety about two or more aspects of life work, social relationships, financial matters, etc., often accompanied by symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or dizziness.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A condition of persistent mental and emotional stress occurring as a result of injury or severe psychological shock, typically involving disturbance of sleep and constant vivid recall of the experience, with dulled responses to others and to the outside world.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Involves repeated, sudden episodes of impulsive,aggressive, violent behavior or angry verbal outbursts in which you react grossly out of proportion to the situation.
intermittent explosive disorder
Persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life.
Clinical Depression
Recognition or affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile.
Validation
Excessive use of psychoactive drugs, such as alcohol, pain medications, or illegal drugs. It can lead to physical, social, or emotional harm.
Substance Abuse
Is a chronic, progressive disease characterized by significant impairment that is directly associated with persistent and excessive use of a psychoactive substance.
Substance Dependence
Avoiding moral judgments.
Non-Judgemental
An unrealistic distrust of others or a feeling of being persecuted.
Paranoia
A belief or altered reality that is persistently held despite evidence or agreement to the contrary, generally in reference to a mental disorder.
Delusion
A perception of having seen, heard, touched, tasted, or smelled something that wasn’t actually there.
Hallucination
The ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
Empathy
The action of thinking about something in a logical, sensible way.
Reasoning
Is a time-limited intervention with a specific psychotherapeutic approach to immediately stabilize those in crisis.
Crisis Intervention
Are a category of drugs used to prevent anxiety and treat anxiety related to several anxiety disorders.
Anxiolytics
Altering brain chemistry to help reduce psychotic symptoms like hallucinations, delusions and disordered thinking.
Antipsychotic Medication
An institution where patients with psychiatric disorders live while receiving treatment.
Psychiatric Hospital
Loss of reality,loss of hope, loss of control, loss of perspective.

The process of communicating nonverbally through conscious or unconscious gestures and movements.
Body Language

Redirection
The professionalism, uniform, and utility belt of the law enforcement officer and the marked vessel or vehicle the officer arrives in.
Officer Presence

Reactionary Gap
The use of bare hands and no weapons.
