Explain appeal from magistrates court…

A

Defence or prosecution can appeal to QBD on point of law
Defence can appeal to crown court against sentence or conviction
…if still unhappy a 2nd appeal to QBD can be granted with leave
Prosecution or deference can appeal to Supreme Court with leave if it’s on a point of law of general public importance

Prosecution can appeal to court of appeal criminal division on point of law or if compelling new evidence
Defence can appeal to C of A on sentence or conviction
Appeal to Supreme Court can be allowed if on point of general public importance with leave
