Court takes away offenders freedom and sends them to prison for a fixed time period
Suspended sentence
Court imposes a term of imprisonment in a fixed time period and will not happen unless offender commits a crime during the time slot
Community service
Alternative to improvement where offender is required to do unpaid time work in the community
Probation
Offender is placed under supervision and required to be on good behaviour
Fine
Offender is given a fixed amount of money to pay instead of imprisonment
