Rhetorical question
A question that doesn’t have to be answered. It emphasises A persons feelings and the tension with someone they are talking to
Adjective
Describes something. Helps if you want people to create an image in mind when reading something
Simile
Two things being compared. Often used with the words like or as. eg: as clear as a crystal
Metaphor
When something is said as another. Eg: your room is a pigsty. Meaning you room is so messy
Verb
Used to describe what someone is doing
Personification
An object ( or something not human ) doing human like things. Eg: the birds were singing peacefully
Adverb
Describing how something is done
Onomatopoeia
Used to describe sounds. Instead of saying there was a loud noise, you can say BANG!
Repetition
Emphasises urgency or tension or the meaning of something to someone
Alliteration
Using more than one word in a row beginning with the same letter.
Emotive language
Makes the reader feel emotional about what they are reading, and for the character
Opinions
Engages reader, so they can see if they agree or disagree
Exaggeration
Makes the reader feel even more …and engages them even more…
Direct address
The reader feels involved, and in gauged with the speaker
