they believe that God created the universe and then created the world in 6 days, then rested on the 7th

- fundamentalists take the story of creation literally -
- liberals dont and instead think of it as a display of Gods power
- although they believe the the scientific origin, they believe God created science

- the holy trinity is God and the religion is based on the concept of how the different entities interact
- helps christians gain an understanding of God who is beyond our understanding, makes sense of what is written

- suffering is allowed as a punishment for wrong doing so it is a test of faith

because the devil tempts people and humans have free will, which they use to abuse and hurt others
