creation of blood feud Flashcards
1
York and the Nevilles had crossed the line: they had murdered fellow nobles. They themselves could no longer feel totally safe.
This is why York tried to blame Somerset for the events of St Albans, although few would have believed this.
Warwick and Salisbury (the Nevilles) had already had a long feud with the Percy family (led by Northumberland). His murder at St Albans therefore escalated their private feud and brought it from the northern locality to the national stage.
St Albans had transformed a rivalry for political place into a blood feud. The sons of those killed (most notably Northumberland and Somerset) sought revenge for their father’s murders.
Margaret had been close to Somerset, he was Prince Edward’s godfather!
