Ebert-Groener Pact
Chancellor Ebert signed pact with army (army would support government as long as government opposed left-wing ideas.

Signing of the Armistice

Erzberger signs the armistice. Germany had no say in treaty negotiations. Parties in the Reichstag began to form and reform and the government introduced social reforms during this unstable period.
The Spartacist Revolt
4-15 Jan 1919
Germans were afraid of the ‘Red Plague’ of communism from Russia. Spartacist uprising in Berlin, Ebert moved government to Weimar for safety. Freikorps brutally dealt with Spartacists.
Results of 19 Jan 1919 Election
82.7% of electors voted. SPD did not get majority so formed coalitions with Centre Party and DDP.
