Unilateral or bilateral anosmia.
I Optic
Optic atrophy, papilledema, amblyopia, field defects.
IIl Oculomotor
Diplopia, ptosis of lid, dilated pupil, inability to focus on close
objects.
IV Trochlear
Convergent strabismus, diplopia
V Trigeminal
Tic douloureux, loss of facial sensation, decreased ability to
chew, loss of corneal reflex, decreased blinking.
VI Abducens
Diplopia, strabismus.
VII Facial
Bell’s palsy, decreased ability to distinguish tastes.
VIII
Vestibulocochlear
Tinnitus, vertigo, deafness
IX
Glossopharyngeal
Loss of “gag” reflex, loss of taste, difficulty swallowing.
X Vagus
Loss of voice, impaired voice, difficulty swallowing.
XI Accessory
Difficulty with shrugging of shoulders, inability to turn head to
left and right.
XII Hypoglossal
Difficulty with speech and swallowing, inability to protrude
tongue.
